Purple is my favorite color for as long as I can remember. In this context, receiving a batch of purple ink to test out is almost a gift from above. Since this friend is interested in finding a particular shade of purple, having swabs as reference would be helpful. All ink names are written with Rohrer and Klingner glass dip pen, which explains overinked spots. Images below is to give you a sense on the hues of these ink, in case you are interested in taking advantage of Goulet Pens‘ ink sample sales. If you think you have seen doubles from the images below, you are not alone. There are definitely shades that are very similar.

Dianthus looks great. Reminds me of a Hello Kitty pen I had in the 80s. It had a nice smell. I found it not many years ago and it was still working.

Yes I love the purples those I have not delved as deep as you have! Impressive. Pelikan Violet is my favorite thus far. It acts well in all the pens I've tried it in and it's saturated enough for my desire for DARK

Purple is one of those colors that is hard to capture by scanner or camera. Dianthus looks a bit closer to magenta in real life, but it is nonethless a great shade. Out of some scented ink I have tried, De Atramentis might have the best fragrance, not too intrusive but subtle.

If a darker purple is what you are looking for, I would suggest Sailor Shigure. It is a dusk and dark purple with all the nice qualities of a Sailor ink. I will probably use it as comparison when I delve into some of these purple ink.

Oh wow, I love purple – definitely my favourite colour. I haven't tried most of these but will have to look into them! Noodler's Baystate Concord Grape and Rohrer & Klingner Cassia are two that have really jumped out at me. Thanks for sharing.

Purple is one of my favorite ink colors 🙂 I think my favorite here is Dianthus, I love the bright magenta shade, kinda reminds me of my R&K Solferino.

Yes! Dianthus is extremely similar to Solferino. The difference would be Solferino is more purple and Dianthus is more pink. Having all shades on the same page is nice because you do not need to rely on your memories recalling the exact hue.
